Dr. Mike Biles
Associate Veterinarian

Education: Auburn University (1980)
Hometown: Bay Minette, AL

Dr. Mike Biles is a 1980 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, ranked first in his graduating class. After working as a mixed animal practitioner in Atmore, AL and Albany, GA, he founded Biles Animal Hospital in Bay Minette (where he was born and raised). We are excited to welcome him to our hospital on Tuesday mornings and Fridays to see patients and perform surgeries. Dr. Biles’ passion is surgical procedures, and he has increased our capacity to book not only higher numbers of surgeries but also higher level surgeries, including orthopedic procedures. He is easy to talk to, has a compassionate bedside manner and quite the client following throughout Baldwin County. In his free time, Dr. Biles enjoys traveling with his wife Betsy (pictured) hunting and gunsmithing, but he is quite the workaholic: always doing something to give back to his friends and animals! He has the largest heart of anyone around! AWC is fortunate to have such a wonderful person as part of our team. Dr. Mike is in the office every Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, as well as, every other Wednesday for your convenience!

Veterinary Assistant

Emily is new to the AWC team. She was working as a grooming assistant when she discovered her passion for animals and decided to broaden her horizons in that field. When she is not working, she enjoys reading on the beach and spending time with her four fur children: Brodie & Savannah (english bulldogs), Madison (cocker spaniel) & Rylee (hound mix).

When you call or come in the front door, you are most likely greeted by Kathy, our receptionist. She is the hub of everything at the clinic, and keeps everything running smoothly! Kathy has been with AWC since 2011. In her spare time, she stays busy with her children, grandchildren and 4 legged companions at home.

Forever Part of Our Family

Nicole has been working as Dr. Powe’s assistant for 9 years but sadly moved away in 2014. She still pops in from time to time when she is in town and takes a few shifts to see her old buddies at AWC! She is incredible at her position and is very passionate with frightened animals. She has many rescued animals at home. Most of our clients know her very well and ask for her by name! She loves all animals but is especially compassionate to our “misunderstood” patients. She also grooms cats for several clients and does a great job! Both the clients and staff miss her like crazy, but we keep everyone updated in her endeavors.

Foxy is a sweet beautiful lady. Everyone thinks she is a chunky monkey because of her fluff but she is actually a very well maintained girl. Foxy picks and chooses who to love, so if you are chosen, consider yourself a special person. If you approach her too fast, she will definitely run. She is usually found napping behind Dr. Powe in her office chair or in the comfortable chairs out front (you’ll see the evidence when the seat is full of hair).

Maddie is the office manager. Her mood changes from Monday to Friday. Pay special attention to the sign up front because sometimes she is quite fiesty! Dr. Powe rescued her when she first starting practicing medicine, 8 years ago! Maddie thrived in the public eye and gets too bored to be a house kitty. She absolutely LOVES kitty treats and demands having the faucet set to drip every morning for some fresh water!
